Why do sellers lose money with incorrect pricing?

The biggest mistake in e-commerce, Amazon FBA, and dropshipping is pricing products based solely on the supplier's cost. If you ignore hidden payment gateway fees (Stripe, PayPal) and the impact of shipping on unit costs, your profit margin evaporates.

Our real-time calculator solves this. It processes financial math instantly, allowing you to find the perfect price to scale your ad campaigns safely.

What is the difference between Profit Margin and Markup?

This is the most common confusion in business. Profit Margin is calculated top-down: it represents the percentage of your Selling Price that you keep as profit. Markup is calculated bottom-up: it represents the percentage added on top of your Total Cost to reach the final price. If a product costs $50 and you sell it for $100, your Markup is 100%, but your Margin is 50%.

What is the mathematical formula for Markup and Margin?

For Markup (%), the formula is: (Net Profit / Total Cost) x 100.
For Margin (%), the formula is: (Net Profit / Selling Price) x 100.
Our calculator automates all of this, ensuring variable gateway fees don't destroy your bottom line.

Why can the profit margin never reach 100%?

Mathematically, for the profit margin to be 100%, the product would need to have an absolute zero cost, which is impossible for physical products. Markup, on the hand, can be 200%, 500%, or more (as often seen in cosmetics and luxury sectors).
